With the chemistry between David and Louise, also being needed to create a dynamic that is understandable and believable for the audience. This resulted in most of the work being in the hands of Eve Hewson, she needed to portray a role that gave the audience different perspectives of the same character, due to Adele being someone who has changed a lot during the time the series takes place in, we are left being aware that something has changed. This is due to the skill involved by the actors themselves, they needed to be able to show us very different sides to their characters, based on what point in time, we were in. Of course, while there is a story going on in the background, the use of the past flashbacks to further the story of David and Adele, causes the audience to wonder how the couple evolved to the level that they ended up in. If it falls away at all, then they are likely to struggle in creating a show that intrigues its audience and keeps us interested. The show is built on the core trio, and due to this, the way in which they are able to act alone and in scenes with one another, is key. The show has been well received, and I can see people going back for a 2nd viewing in order to try and pick up on what they have missed along the way. The story demonstrates the perils of adultery, getting involved with others business, and what happens when we fail to put ourselves first in our lives. The show pivots around the cast and until around episode 5 really comes across as something that could happen to anyone in life. The show caused uproar on Twitter due to its ending, with many articles and people left commenting about the surprise twist and how it fits into the overall narrative of the piece, with any hints or tips that were along the way. The series takes place in the present and the past, with it being filmed in 2019, prior to the pandemic, starring Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman and Simona Brown.
The series focusing on a group of 3 people, with Louise getting involved with her psychiatrist boss, before becoming friends with his wife. The author wanted to create something similar to that of Gone Girl but was unable to think of an original idea to begin with, before eventually settling on the concepts used in this series / novel. Behind Her Eyes is a new Netflix original based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Pinborough released in 2017.
